L3 Harris approached us looking for a self-build exhibition stand solution that would offer maximum flexibility across their upcoming trade events in the UK and Europe. Their key requirement was a modular system that could be re-used, reconfigured, and customised to suit multiple stand sizes and layouts.
The first installation — a 7m x 3m space at Ocean Business — was the most complex, with only one open side. It would act as the blueprint for future setups, so the design needed to balance adaptability, brand visibility, and ease of self-installation.
At Ocean Business 2021, L3 Harris had previously relied on a traditional, single-use exhibition stand — but for 2024, they needed a more sustainable, flexible solution.
A key requirement was that the self-build exhibition stand could be easily assembled and dismantled by just 2–3 members of their internal team, with no specialist crew needed. Portability was also crucial: the full system needed to be compact enough for van transport across both the UK and Europe, without compromising on visual presence.
They also challenged us with a unique integration: designing a solution that could effectively house, mount, and display a short-throw projector — either front or rear — alongside a ceiling light-rejecting (CLR) screen, all within the constraints of a modular, reconfigurable system.
To meet the demands of multiple shows across the UK and Europe, we developed a modular stand solution that could be easily reconfigured to suit varying stand sizes and layouts:
Ocean Business (7m x 3m) – 1 open side
Autonomous Ship Expo (6m x 3m) – 3 open sides
Combined Naval Event (3m x 3m) – 2 open sides
We produced detailed CAD drawings showing the initial Ocean Business layout alongside reconfigurable plans for the upcoming events. This gave L3 Harris full visibility into how their self-build exhibition stand would adapt to future requirements — all without compromising brand consistency or visual impact.
To enhance usability and visitor engagement, we seamlessly integrated several of their bespoke features, including:
A short-throw projector, embedded within a custom-built counter, paired with a ceiling light-rejecting (CLR) screen we helped source.
A lockable storage room with internal shelving
Built-in AV integrations for demos and presentations
Bespoke plinth counters for showcasing models and technical equipment
One additional request was an elevated flooring system that could be used across shows. L3 Harris had previously hired temporary raised floors for each event — a costly, one-time-use option. We proposed a smarter alternative: Stand On® — a modular, tool-free flooring system with integrated cable management. Lightweight (just 1.2kg per tile), fully reconfigurable, and capable of accepting all floorcovering types, it offered long-term flexibility and ease of reuse across multiple builds.
Ahead of the first installation, we invited the L3 Harris team to our facility for a full Pre-Build — a complete dress rehearsal of their stand setup. This gave them the opportunity to preview the structure, test integrations like the projector and AV, and ensure every detail met expectations before arriving on-site. Since its first outing, the stand has continued to evolve. Over two years, it’s been reconfigured for new venues, refreshed layouts, and expanded with bespoke integrations — all tailored to L3 Harris’ growing needs. From touchscreen displays and custom counters to an LED-illuminated feature wall and elevated lighting, the system has scaled without compromise — delivering a cohesive, high-impact presence at every event.
Continuing Evolution with Custom Features
Since the original rollout, L3 Harris’ self-build exhibition stand has undergone further transformation. For 2025, we helped them adapt the system into a new layout that included:
