The Benefits of Digital Wallpaper
Artists and Interior designers have relied on wallpaper for centuries to add colour, texture and patterns to space, but turned to paint whenever they wanted to create large one-of-a-kind murals. However, in recent years, advances in digital print technology has seen digital wallpaper printing emerge as a major wallpaper printing technology, largely attributable to its ‘unrestricted creativity.’ In addition to that, when you consider the emerging ‘Millennial Market’ and its love for customisation and personalisation, it’s easy to see why custom printed wallpaper has become the main driver of the Interior Décor Print Marketplace in 2020.
Custom Printed Wallpaper offers endless interior design possibilities vs that what is achievable with generic or stock wallpapers. Why? Because digital wallpaper offers something that both a coat of paint and generic stock wallpapers can’t - ‘Unrestricted Creativity.’ With digital printing, wallpaper designers no longer have to repeat patters every 55-61cm. This breaking out of the box of ‘step and repeat’ is exciting to say the least and makes anything possible. High-resolution photo mural wallpapers and large scale designs are no longer an issue, and since digital printing requires no rollers, digital wallpaper can have any colour imaginable. In-fact Interior Designers and Artists across the world are taking advantage of digitally printed wallpapers to design and integrate, unique, ‘one of one’ wallpapers, reflective of their client’s taste to enhance the look, feel and appeal of interior spaces. You can also:
- Use your own photography, artwork or design
- Incorporate 3D and other visual effects.
- Add Gradients without hard-lines being visible
- Choose from an ever expanding range of textures and face-finishes to enhance the aesthetic of your printed image
Customisation and Personalisation
There is a premium on individuality; People put a higher value on objects they have actually worked to produce. Digitally Printed Wallpaper falls into that category, allowing you to co-create your own unique product according to your particular tastes and needs. Offering more drama than paint, it’s a fun way to transform a room and reflect your personal style without breaking the bank. When you consider the emergence of the ‘Millennial Market’ and its love for customisation and personalisation, it’s easy to see why custom printed wallpaper has become the main driver of the Interior Décor Print Marketplace in 2020 and beyond.
Vibrant, Lifelike Image Reproduction
Advances in digital print technology have contributed significantly to the rise in the demand for wallpaper and the growth of the digitally printed custom wallpaper market. The vibrancy that comes with digitally printed wallpaper is unparalleled. Photo and mural wallpapers are on the rise, with digital print technology delivering richer colours and reproducing images with lifelike sharpness to ensure that your interior looks flawless and has a real wow factor.
Speaks for you, your brand and your organisation
There’s a famous saying, ‘A picture is worth a thousand words’ and that’s exactly what Custom Printed Wallpaper is; A conversation piece that speaks for you, your brand and/or organisation. In-fact FMRI neuro-imagery shows that when evaluating brands, consumers primarily use emotions (personal feelings and experiences). By choosing the right colours and images, you can create a conversation piece that elicits positive emotions and experiences. In-fact Hotels and Restaurants are already transforming bar and dining areas to suit.
In Office settings, digital wallpaper printing is being utilised to revitalize spaces that would otherwise be empty and dull, such as Corridors, Meeting Rooms and Breakout Areas. Here the visual atmosphere created by such custom wallcoverings enables designers to generate a bespoke environment that is reflective of the brand or organisations history, values and/or personality. Designs can be created in large scale, as well as patterns and designs that match your brand colours.
Better Value for Money
According to FESPA, the residential sector is projected to be the fastest-growing segment in the digitally printed wallpaper market. This growth has been attributed to a rise in the number of housing renovations which has created demand for interior decoration. A key driver in this market is the benefit of using wallpaper over interior paint. Digitally printed wallpapers not only add to the aesthetic appeal of the wall space, but they are also much more economical in the long run compared with interior paint despite the higher initial investment. Whilst in the short-term, paint is the superior, cost-effective choice, if you want to think long-term with your budget, opting for digital wallpaper can prove better value for money as they offer a durability (up to 15 years) that has the ability to fully resist wear and tear that paint simply could not stand up to.
Less Mess, Less Stress
Installing and removing wallpaper USED to be a headache. However, growth in the demand and use of digitally printed wallpapers is in large due to advances in technology, with non-woven substrates that are durable, washable, scratch resistant, easy to install and remove. In-fact one of the major benefits of digitally printed, non-woven wallpapers is that they can be peeled from the wall without leaving stains or marks. Additionally, because digital wallpaper is made to measure and bespoke printed, they can be printed in drop-widths to suit your creative needs and/or installation requirements, whereas traditional wallpapers are generally only available in drop widths of 540-610mm.

HOW TO ORDER?
1) Measure the Height and Width of your wall
Ceilings and walls are not always straight, so we recommend measuring your wall with a margin of error by adding 10cm to both the width and height of your wall dimensions. You won’t be able to buy a roll or strips separately because the Wallpaper is custom-printed to your measurements.
2) Design and Upload Your Image and/or Design
For our range of digitally printable wallpapers, the best results are achieved when the resolution of the images are at least 125dpi at final print size (full size). However, it is also important to note that our digital wallpapers have a unique set of technical and creative considerations, especially for those using photographs or stock images.
When using photos or stock images it is important to make sure that your image is at least one pixel per millimeter of wallpaper. For example, if your wall is 4000mm wide (4meters) x 2000mm high (2meters), then your image needs to be at least 4000 x 2000 pixels. If you are unsure as to what this means, please email your Image and Wall Dimensions over to email@example.com and one of our Graphic Design experts will check the resolution of your file in relation to the overall size of your wall.
